Postdoc position in stem cell and red cell biology available

We are looking for a highly motivated and talented postdoc to join our team at the Division of Molecular Medicine and Gene Therapy, Lund Stem Cell Center, to work on mechanisms governing hematopoietic stem cells and erythropoiesis in health and disease.

The research of the Singbrant lab is focused on elucidating mechanisms governing hematopoietic stem cells and erythropoiesis in health and disease, with a specific interest in deriving novel mechanisms to treat forms of refractory anemia. To this end we use human cells and transgenic mouse models, in combination with advanced flow cytometry and cutting-edge transcriptional and molecular analyses.

The successful postdoc candidate will independently drive his/her own research project, work collaboratively within the team, supervise students, apply for grants, actively participate in laboratory meetings and journal clubs, as well as present at national and international scientific seminars and meetings.

About Lund University and Lund Stem Cell Center

The Lund Stem Cell Center is a strategic center of excellence in life science with a strong international position in the area of hematopoietic stem cell biology. We offer a stimulating and highly interactive international scientific environment consisting of more than 25 research groups and almost 130 people under "one roof”, investigating different aspects of stem cell biology and hematopoiesis. The official working language is English. The Lund Stem Cell Center provides a strong infrastructure with core facilities and technical platforms including ES/iPS Cell Core, FACS Core, Single-Cell Genomics Facility, Vector core and Bioinformatics. Furthermore, all PhD students and postdocs at the Stem Cell Center have access to the Lund Research School in Stem Cell Biology (RSSCB) offering in-depth educational sessions, seminar series, advanced training courses, and workshops.


Qualifications

The successful candidate is a highly motivated and ambitious scientist with the qualifications listed below. Research experience and skills in several of the listed relevant experiences is an advantage. 

Required

  • A PhD, or currently finishing up a PhD, in Life Sciences relevant for the position
  • A documented strong track record with at least 1 first-author publication in peer reviewed journals
  • Very good interpersonal and cooperation skills
  • Recognized ability to work independently, as well as part of a team
  • Excellent communication skills in written and spoken English

Candidates who are currently finishing up their PhD thesis work are encouraged to apply. The PhD degree should not be more than three years old at the last day of applying, and the applicant should not have been employed by Lund University within the last two years in order to be eligible to receive a scholarship.
