Portfolio Workshops (12hp)

What’s the aim of my portfolio? How do I get started? What defines a reflection and reflective texts?

These are some of the questions that are addressed in the portfolio workshops that the PhD program offers. In the workshops you will get familiar with the purpose and intended learning outcomes of your portfolio work. You will also be introduced to how to get started with your writing process in practice, and how to use the web-based tool Mahara.

Portfolio workshop – Questions, answers and web-tool Mahara hands-on.

Place: CRC, Malmö

Program:

Part 1: 09:00-10:00 CRC 93-11-003 NB! Bring a laptop or tablet!
Question hour with the course leader Olga Göransson.
In preparation for this session you are expected to study the information material about the portfolio course, available at:

Ideally, submit your questions to olga.goransson@med.lu.se prior to the workshop.

Part 2: 10:00-12:00 CRC 93-11-003
Web-tool Mahara hands-on (Yvonne Hultman Özek and Matthias Bank).
This session will focus on how to build a viewing page and share it for assessment of your portfolio. It is an advantage if you have already structured your portfolio and worked actively with it by making journal entries and attaching files, but basic introduction of how to create journals and structure their entries will also be reviewed.

Program:

Part 1: 09:00-10:45 HSC C315 NB! Bring a laptop or tablet!
How to prepare your portfolio for the half-time review.
Introduction (Olga Göransson).
We will start with a brief introduction to the portfolio and then discuss how it it assessed and what to think about when presenting the portfolio at the half-time review.
Web-tool Mahara hands-on (Yvonne Hultman Özek and Matthias Bank).
This session will focus on how to build a viewing page and share it for assessment of your portfolio. It is an advantage if you have already structured your portfolio and worked actively with it by making journal entries and attaching files but basic introduction of how to create journals and structure their entries will also be reviewed (Coffee break ≈9:30-9:45)

Reflection and reflective writing in theory and practice.

In this part of the workshop we will introduce some simple models for reflection that you can use when documenting and evaluating your PhD work. We will also discuss what defines a reflective text. In the practical part you will write and analyze a short reflective text.
