In the Lund University Library Catalogue LUBcat you can see what material is available at Lund University libraries, and where to find it. You can do a lot yourself, including borrowing and returning books in the self-service machine at our libraries in Lund and Malmö, or requesting and checking your loans in the library catalogue.
At the information desks you can also borrow with a ID card, including RSID card.
LU card as library card for students and employees
Students and staff at Lund University use their LU card as their library card. Pick up your LU card and fill out the application form for a library account below. The LU card serves also as ID card and access card within Lund University.
New students and new employees must first get a LU card and create a library account, and then visit one of our libraries to add some information. Bring your LU card.
If you are neither student or staff, you can still get a library card. Apply for a library account (link below) and visit the library information desk to pick up your card and get a PIN-number.
Use PIN code at the self-service machines
Use the PIN code for your LU card. External users must add a PIN code, ask at the library information desk.

The loan period for course literature is two weeks.
For other books in our collections the loan period is 28 days with automatic renewal as long as the book is not requested by another patron - 5 renewals for students and 11 for employees.
Reference books can be checked out but must be returned the same day.
They need to be checked out at the information desk, it cannot be done at the self-service machines.
You are responsible for your loans
You are personally responsible for your loans and keeping track of lending periods.
E-mail reminders are an extra service, but not a guarantee as they can be blocked by spam filters or obstructed by server problems.
Request a book and renew your loans
You can check your loans and make a request in to the library catalogue. Log in with your Swedish personal number or equivalent (12 digits), and type your own password. If you have an LU card it's normally the number under your name, just add 19 before. If there are no requests for the books you have borrowed, you can renew ten times. You can also renew your loans at the library information desks.
Pick up location for books requests
You can request books from other libraries at Lund University, and choose your preferred pickup location for most of the books.
Returning books in the self-service machine at our libraries in Lund and Malmö. Book return boxes are also located outside the libraries at HSC in Lund and CRC in Malmö. At BMC, a return box is placed outside the book room. You can return books at any of the university libraries.
