Teaching opportunities
Are you interested in teaching in English at basic or advanced level at the Faculty of Medicine?
Most programmes have Swedish as language of instruction, but the Faculty of Medicine has three international programmes that have English as language of instruction:
- Bachelor’s and Master's Programme in Biomedicine
- Master’s Programme in Public Health
- Master’s Programme in Medical Science
In addition, there are a few activities within the Medical Programme where English is sufficient (see below on this webpage).
Persons with a teacher employment are prioritised when appointing teaching assignments. If you are interested in teaching, we encourage you to contact the assistant head of department (“GA-prefekt”) at your department.
Bachelor's and Master's programmes in Biomedicine
Both the Bachelor and Master programmes in biomedicine have English as language of instruction and admit students from all over the world. All major teaching assignments (course leader and examiner) are appointed in competition by the programme director after counselling with the chair of the programme board. Such assignments are announced via email (teachers list) and the Faculty of Medicine’s new letter and an application should be sent to the programme director.
All other teaching assignments are appointed by the course leader for the respective course based on competence and experience. If you are interested in teaching in a specific course you should contact the course leader. You find a list of the courses and contact information to the course leader here:

The Medical Programme
The teaching in the Medical programme is generally in Swedish. However, there are a few instances where English is sufficient:
Semester 1
Project lab – 2-3 students spend 1-2 days at a research lab, and get a general introduction and perform an experiment. They shall also put together a lab report. If you are interested in supervising, please send an email to: T1@med.lu.se
Semester 3
Analysis of a controversial scientific issue – The students shall put together an analysis in English. If you are interested in assessing such analyses, please send an email to: T3@med.lu.se
Semester 5 and 10
Scientific project – The students carry out scientific projects of ~7 weeks (semester 5) or one semester (semester 10). You can register a project in our database for scientific projects. Thereby the students can find it when they search for projects.
