Language of instruction
The course is intended for PhD students at the Faculty of Medicine working on non-randomized studies. The course is also open for post-doctoral and senior researchers with a course fee of 5000 SEK.
Applied Statistics I & Applied Statistics II (or equivalent knowledge obtained elsewhere). Access to and skills in one of statistical software packages SPSS, STATA or R is also required.
The course will be given during Autumn 2019.
Lund - Lecture room will be announced to the students before course start.
Number of participants
This course covers four main quasi-experimental designs used for impact evaluation in epidemiology and public health. Following subjects will be covered during the course:
- Causal Inference and counterfactuals
- Internal and external validity and their threats
- Difference-in-difference technique
- Interrupted time series analysis
- Regression discontinuity design
- Synthetic control method
