Dear colleagues,

I hope you all have got a good start of the year.

One thing taking place this spring is the preparations for a new leadership at the Department. Since I will leave my position at the end of the year I want to be able to present a candidate to the Faculty’s Dean before the summer starts.

Tommy Andersson

Therefore we decided at the last board meeting to start the election process. Chairman of the election committee is professor Björn Dahlbäck. More information in this issue will follow.

I would also like to inform you about a new Head of one of our research groups. It is the Radiology Group, in which associate professor Sophia Zackrisson now has succeeded professor Olle Ekberg.

Vacations during 2017

It is time for technical/administrative employees and Ph.D. students with an employment to start planning this years’ vacation together with the research group heads. Paid vacation is a benefit for all employees but it is also mandatory due to work health reasons.

There are rules and regulations stating how many days one must take each year and when. These rules and regulations vary depending on employment category, employment period and age.

Specific questions regarding an individual employee’s vacation days can be answered by the research group head.

Please note that time off for scholarship holders and students is handled differently.

Yearly staff appraisals

Staff appraisals are to be conducted annually with all employees. It is a conversation between the employee and the research group head (research group heads meet with the head of department) aiming to develop the organization and the individual employees. The research group head is responsible for ensuring that the appraisal is held. As an employee, one is responsible to be prepared for it.

All research group heads have been informed about this. The Departmental Office suggests that these conversations are carried out during the spring but it can be done throughout the year.
