By-election to the faculty board 2019

Anna Rignell-Hydbom has resigned as member of The Board of the Faculty of Medicine. We are therefore holding a by-election to fill her post for the remaining mandate period 2019-04-01– 2020-12-31. The election will take place in March 2019. The by-election appoints a representative for the teaching staff in the Faculty Board.

The Faculty of Medicine has elected Diana Karpman as representative for the teaching staff in the Faculty Board for the  mandate period 2019-04-01– 2020-12-31.

 The Nominating Committees proposal

The nomination committee at the Faculty of Medicine has received 17 nominations of teachers at the Faculty to replace Anna Rignell-Hydbom, who has asked to be relieved of her assignment. The nomination committee called four persons to an interview. One of these withdrew their candidacy and one other could not attend the scheduled time for the interview. The nomination committee has, after these interviews and internal discussion, decided to suggest Diana Karpman, Professor, Department of Clinical Sciences, Lund for the tenured post as teacher representative in the Faculty board. How is the election done?

The election will take place electronically between 5 and 26 March 2019. If you are entitled to vote, you will receive an email on 5 March containing a link to your ballot. Voting will close on 26 March at 24:00. Your vote is anonymous; nobody will be able to see whom you voted for. 

Who is eligible to nominate and vote?

Staff at the Faculty of Medicine who as of 1 January 2019 are employed at a minimum of 50 per cent of full time and until further notice, or for a fixed term of at least two consecutive years, are eligible. Doctoral students working under a doctoral studentship are not eligible, however, as they count as students in this context pursuant to Chapter 1 Section 4 of the Higher Education Ordinance.

Who can be elected?

The election is being held to replace a representative for the teaching staff in the Faculty Board, which is professors, senior lecturers, adjunct professors, adjunct senior lecturers, visiting professors, associate senior lecturers, postdoctoral research fellows, and postdocs.

The Faculty Board

The Faculty Board is the faculty’s highest decision-making body. The board has overall responsibility for education, research, innovation and interaction with business and society at the Faculty of Medicine. The Faculty Board comprises representatives of academic staff, students and other staff, as well as external members.
