This spring we have had a record number of applicants to autumn semester university studies!
Among the most popular programmes at Lund University (160 programmes in total), several of our programmes are in the top 20; the medicine programme place 2, the nursing programme place 7, the physiotherapy programme place 12 and the biomedicine programme place 20.
A little unexpected yet gratifying news is that a completely new course, "Breastfeeding and breastfeeding support", entered a sixth place among the university’s most popular courses, with a total of 535 applicants, of which 244 were first-hand applicants!
The Faculty of Medicine is also the first in Sweden to offer a base year in health Sciences, a preparatory year that provides a guaranteed place in some of our programmes. We believe that the base year will contribute to broader recruitment but also increase the number applications to our courses and programmes. There are a total of 115 applicants for the base year for autumn 2021. The investments in the base year in health sciences and the course breastfeeding and breastfeeding support and other new courses are a result of the university and the faculty having received targeted funds to expand the educational offer, the so-called Corona investments.
