Careers Centre

The Medical Faculty´s Careers Centre offers activities and information regarding career issues to PhD students, post docs and other young researchers.

Mailing lists and Faculty newsletter

There are a couple of e-mailing lists for groups of employees at the faculty, to spread information targeting a specific group.

The Faculty newsletter is sent out by e-mail every second Tuesday with info on upcoming events etc. Career related events are announced in the newsletter so take on the habit to scroll it through. If you do not get the letter automatically you can sign up for it by contacting

If you are considering a career outside Academia and haven´t already signed up for you may wish to do so. It is an LU job portal which posts job alerts and info on career related events. Neither jobs nor events are specifically focusing on PhD students but rather adress all students, including undergraduate and master students. However, some events may be of great interest also to PhD students and other young researchers.

Time 2 Talk

Monthly lunch meetings for PhD students and postdocs at the Medical faculty, with topics on professional development in a broad perspective.

Future Faculty (FF)

Network for researchers with a PhD, young PI:s and teachers at the Medical faculty that do not have a permanent university teacher position (senior lecturer or professor).

Activities with the aim to improve the conditions for young or future researchers at the Medical faculty.

Women IN Great Sciences (WINGS)

Network of scientists that are employed as researchers at the Medical faculty, Science faculty, Engineering faculty and related industries. PhD students and postdocs from those faculties are welcome to join.

Seminars, workshops etc regarding research, career, and networking. Gender equality focus with a broad and inclusive perspective.

Doctoral student council (MDR)

Medicinska doktorandrådet (MDR) is the doctoral student council at the Medical Faculty, representing the faculty´s Ph.D. students in different boards and committees and working to improve the quality of the doctoral education..

MDR arranges the annual PhD Student Day in spring, and seminars on the individual study plan.

Postdoc career success

Junior researchers, especially recently appointed postdocs, are welcome to participate in this online programme that provides practical knowledge and effective tools that can be directly applied to your everyday work.

Career planning for PhD students

Training course for PhD students on how to create an individual career plan that also provides concrete tools for putting your plan into action. The training course is not a part of your PhD studies as such, but an opportunity for you to plan your future career.
