DUCO – management training for the Faculty of Medicine

In 2020, the Faculty of Medicine started a new managerial training programme called DUCO*. A total of 150 managers are estimated to complete the programme by autumn 2021. All faculty managers with staff responsibility will be invited to take part in the programme. To achieve this target, new groups will start the programme in autumn 2021.

At the beginning of 2019, Lund University established guidelines for managerial duties. A manager has three roles: employer, leader and operations manager. This places considerable demands on managers. For this reason, we established DUCO, the Faculty of Medicine’s managerial training programme. DUCO is a tool both for the faculty and for the individual employee. DUCO will provide the necessary tools for managers to work systematically with work environment issues, and the programme clarifies the forms of administrative support available to managers at the faculty. DUCO will also increase managers’ knowledge and awareness regarding what managerial duties encompass and contribute to creating favourable conditions for a sustainable work environment.

Target group

All faculty managers with staff responsibility. Managers will be invited as proposed by their head of department/equivalent.

Structure

Three groups will start the programme in autumn 2021 followed by a further three groups in spring 2022. There will be 25 individuals in each group. The programme will consist of four courses over a period of one year. In total, approximately 150 managers will start the programme in 2021 and 2022. The programme will be offered in both Swedish and English. 

The programme courses will be facilitated by HR employees at the Faculty of Medicine.

Registration

Registration should be done via Kompetensportalen except for Group F. Group F will be held in English and is geared towards foreign, English-speaking managers. Register for Group F by sending an e-mail to Christina Mihaly.

If you have completed any of the course modules previously, you can only be credited for these if they were completed in 2020 or 2021. Report this to Christina Mihaly.

Registration: You register for a Group and are expected to attend your Group’s courses. Exceptions are made only in special situations, such as illness, etc.
