Department of Laboratory Medicine

The Department of Laboratory Medicine is one of six departments at Lund University’s Faculty of Medicine. We conduct leading research, both broad and specialised, within the field of laboratory medicine, focusing on the onset of disease and how we can improve diagnostics and treatment for patients. Some of our strongest areas with world-class research deal with cancer, genetics and blood. Another focus area is occupational and environmental medicine, where we study how our environment affects our health.

The department’s activities also include comprehensive third cycle education and training within the medical and biomedical degree programmes. In addition, we are also active as lecturers within first and second cycle education – above all within the medical and biomedical degree programmes.

The Department has:

300 employees
29 professors
100 doctoral students
SEK 230 million in turnover
