NeuroFortis at the Wallenberg Neuroscience Center is a joint effort between four leading research teams with a strong international position in the field of brain damage and repair, combined with a pioneering research group on human embryonic stem cells.
The program will explore novel mechanisms of neurodegeneration and maladaptive plasticity in animal models of neurodegenerative disease or ischemic brain injury, and devise novel treatment strategies based on disease intervention, cell replacement and functional restoration.
NeuroFortis was selected in 2005 as one of the top 10 centers in Swedish academic research overall. NeuroFortis will not only offer excellent scientific projects but also a carefully designed program to promote training and career development.
There are more than 100 people working for the five research groups. Click on each of the teams below to learn more about them.
