Towards evidence-based practices for health promotion, care and rehabilitation in relation to long-term illness.
Long-term illness is the leading cause of mortality worldwide and should be attended to for all age groups. One core task for health and care research is to develop new and relevant knowledge, but also to explore new ways of providing high quality health care and social services.
LUCare is a network that emanates from the health and care science research at the Department of Health Sciences, but stretches over most departments at the Faculty of Medicine. Six research domains are included in the network; Child and Family Health, Mental Health, Acute Care, Physical Health and Rehabilitation, Ageing and Old Age, and Clinical Health Promotion. The research contains five closely connected key areas; Health promotion, Everyday life, Person-centred care, Mechanisms and processes, and Implementation.
The vision of LUCare is to establish a network for strong inter- and multidisciplinary research within the field of health and care science. The network is expected to strengthen and increase the cooperation with the health care organizations and the social services, both nationally and internationally.
The mission is to improve the health and quality of life of people with long-term illnesses in all ages. This will be made through the development and implementation of evidence-based practices for people with long term illnesses, in close co-operation with the health care organizations and the social services.
LUCare network has, by the Faculty Board of the Faculty of Medicine at Lund university, been granted 500 000 SEK/year during a three year period. Starting the 1st of January 2012.
