Forskning

Mina forskningsprojekt handlar om hur personer efter stroke kan förbättras genom styrketräning av lårmusklerna. Både muskelstyrka, gångförmåga och upplevd delaktighet har utvärderats och metoderna för utvärdering har testats vad gäller tillförlitlighet och känslighet.

Framtida projekt

Fokus för min postdoktorala forskning har handlat om att utvärdera styrkan i musklerna i nedre extremiteten samt gångförmågan hos personer med sena effekter av polio. Dessa personer kommer att ingå i en långtidsstudie för att se hur styrka och gångförmåga förändras över tid. Olika sjukgymnastiska träningsmetoder efter stroke och postpolio kommer att utvärderas på kort och lång sikt.

Ett nytt forskningsområde är studier kring vilka barriärer som finns för att personer med funktionshinder skall kunna delta i friskvård; vilken påverkan har attityder, ekonomiska, miljömässiga och/eller andra hinder.
