StemTherapy will address the overall objectives by assembling internationally outstanding competences at LU and UU in basic stem cell biology, clinical cell therapy and supporting biomaterials within three major clinical interdisciplinary translational programmes:
To ensure renewal, strong collaborations and management will be implemented. The objectives will be of strategic importance for both the Swedish society and industry. Swedish scientists will take a leading role in the development of novel stem cell-based therapies for serious diseases, and, hence, provide solutions to important health problems in society.
Generated new knowledge will be translated into commercial products. In conclusion, the outstanding scientific qualifications of StemTherapy and its, for society and industry, highly relevant objectives fit very well within the strategic research plans of LU/UU and the strategic research area in “Stem cells and Regenerative Medicine”.
