The Faculty collaborates with Skåne University Hospital in Lund and Malmö to create an environment with productive communication between basic research and the healthcare system. Clinical researchers take the latest findings from basic research and translate them into practical health care and clinical observations, which in turn pose new challenges for basic research. One of the products of this collaboration is the Biomedical Centre (BMC), a research and education centre in Lund, as well as the newly established Clinical Research Centre (CRC) in Malmö, which are affiliated with Skåne University Hospital. Research and teaching in nursing, occupational therapy and physical therapy is conducted in the Health Sciences Centre, in the vicinity of the Skåne University Hospilat in Lund.
At the Faculty of Medicine the step from laboratory to clinical practice isn’t large, either philosophically or in practice.
