It's an open meeting for junior scientists at the faculty of medicine. We will discuss issues concerning junior scientists and how we could act upon them. We will also make a plan for meetings and seminars over the coming year.
We are currently looking for new members of the steering board, so if you are interested in becoming more active to influence the situation for junior scientists, this is an opportunity to do so.
There will be a lunch sandwich for those who register no later than January 30 to:

- with dean Gunilla Westergren-Thorsson & pro vice-chancellor
Ingalill Rahm Hallberg
Time: 25th January at 14:15
Location: BMC I 1341, Lund (entrance from the back of house I)
Since October 2011 there no longer exists an agreement for time-limited employment after postdoc level. Due to this problem, Future Faculty sent an official letter to Vice-Chancellor’s office at Lund University with a request to locally re-introduce Assistant Professor during a transitional period until an agreement has been met at national level.
In contact with Arbetsgivarverket (Swedish Agency for Government Employers) Future Faculty was informed that it was up to each university to seek permission for local negotiations over a transition period. In December 2011, the Vice-Chancellor’s office sent an inquiry to Arbetsgivarverket to locally negotiate for an agreement with the national unions. The answer from Arbetsgivarverket was that the agency will most likely not delegate the right for local negotiations at this time.
Utbildningsdepartementet (Ministry of Education and Research) has, according to the vice-chancellor’s office, reclaimed the matter and it is leaning towards to reinstate a position much like former Assistant Professor (= Forskarassistent or Biträdande lektor), however, at the earliest in autumn 2012.
On Wednesday, January 25, at 14:15 our dean Gunilla Westergren-Thorsson and pro vice-chancellor Ingalill Rahm Hallberg will answer questions on how this affects researcher in this position.
The meeting will take place in one of the new conference rooms in house I, BMC I 1341, Lund. There is an entrance at the back of house I.
