The funding is aimed at junior scientists who are about to establish their own research group. The applicant shall have some kind of employement at a research department and shall have obtained their PhD 2006 or later.

Ragnar Söderberg's Foundation

- research programme in medicine for junior scientists

"The Applicant shall have:

  • a Swedish doctoral degree or an equivalent foreign degree awarded between 2005-2009 (due to parental leave, clinical duties, sick leave or military service, this period can be extended according to the length of the leave, for a maximum of 2 years, between 2003-2009),
  • qualified themselves through additional research from a university, hospital and/or company,
  • initiated contact with a Swedish university or a research institute in order to establish their research. The applicant shall not have a permanent position as a teacher or a researcher at a Swedish university at the time of the closing date of this announcement.

Awarded research grant includes financing for 5 years for approximately 7 million SEK, excluding indirect costs and direct local costs, but including:

  • full-time salary for the principal investigator during the entire period,
  • salary or scholarship for another junior researcher, graduate student or a research assistant,
  • funds for consumables,
  • funds for moving, if necessary."

Excellence lunch meeting with Nobel Prize Laureate

Future Faculty has the honour to host a lunch meeting with junior scientists of the medical faculty and the Nobel Prize Laureate speaker of the upcoming excellence seminar. The agenda will include an informal discussion between junior scientists and Professor Mario Capecchi, which will be followed by lunch.

Apply for Lund University's postdoctoral program luPOD

luPOD is a one-year program for assistent professors (biträdande lektorer, forskarassistenter) or employed person with similar assignments at Lund University. The goal is to provide tools that are relevant to the different academic roles and also knowledge of the university context.

luPOD is structured around a number of different activities - lectures, panel talks, group work, discussions and practical exercises. The participants come from almost all faculties at LU which enables new perspectives.


Join Sveriges unga akademi

Sveriges unga akademi was founded in May 2011 by Kungliga Vetenskapsakademien. The idea is to create an interdisciplinary platform for junior scientists with the aim to gain more dynamics in Swedish research. Six new fellows will be appointed during 2012. More information can be found on:


International Postdoc

The Swedish research council (Vetenskapsrådet) has announced that they have a new grant dedicated to junior scientists with the aim to support international mobility of researchers. First call will be made by the beginning of 2012.
