Randomized, Controlled Study of the Use of Central Venous Catheter Core Cooling combined with cold saline as an Adjunct to Percutaneous Coronary Intervention For the Treatment of Acute Myocardial Infarction

Objectives:

To demonstrate a reduction in infarct size/Myocardium at risk in patients with STEMI who are cooled with 1-2 liters of cold saline and central venous catheter cooling prior to PCI.

Inclusion criteria:

Patients undergoing primary PCI for the treatment of acute ST-elevation myocardial infarction with ST-elevation of >0,2 mV in two adjacent leads at arrival to PCI-lab within 6 hours of symptom onset.
