2008-03-25 Associate Professor Gun- Britt Jarnlo received 32.000 SEK from the Faculty Board of Medicine to cooperate with the surrounding society – the so called third mission. The project is called: Fall preventive measures in communities – how, why and how are the results being followed up? The aim of this project is to use the knowledge gained in research at the university about fall prevention within the daily work of physical therapists and occupational therapists in communities in the County of Skåne.
It is proved that it´s possible to prevent fall accidents (Gustafson Y et al., Läkartidningen 2006;103(40):2997-9) and there are different kinds of actions with a variety of quality to prevent fall in all communities. Many colleagues get in contact with us and would like to get to know about measurement and follow-up methods. Research within this area develops rapidly forwards and it´s difficult to follow the latest evolvements for those who have all the oldest citizens of a community as their working field. The project will be realized in 2008.
