Organisation of the Faculty of Medicine

The Faculty of Medicine at Lund University consists of six departments that pursue research and education in Lund and Malmö. A department is an organisational unit within a Faculty that engages in education and research.

The Faculty Board is responsible for providing guidelines and making decisions pertaining to Faculty operations. The Dean acts as chairman of the Faculty Board. The Faculty's teachers choose the Dean and Pro-Dean based on proposals by a nominating committee. The Dean appoints other members of the Faculty Management, currently three Assistant Deans. The Faculty Management also includes the Faculty's administrative director and information manager. The Faculty Board delegates some of the Faculty's duties to committees.

The Faculty Office is responsible for providing the departments with cutting edge administrative support for personnel administration and financial services.

• All teachers are employed at one department but teaches in the programmes mandated by the education boards

• RG/EG – Research and educational groups, the smallest unit of an department
• The dashed ovals show associations of research groups within and between institutions, faculties, universities and other organisations such as centres, networks and strategic research areas
