Curing Parkinson's and Huntington's Disease
Bagadilico is a network consisting of around 120 researchers, students and technicians from the Faculty of Medicine, Faculty of Engineering and Skåne University Hospital, as well as Cultural Sciences. Our goal is to develop and improve treatments for the diseases and to improve quality of life for patients and their families.
The multidisciplinary environment guarantees that findings from the experimental research are taken further into the clinic, and that the patients’, their families’ and society’s perspectives are respected.
Formally, Bagadilico has existed since 2008 and is one of the University’s Linnaeus environments. This means that we are considered an especially strong environment for basic research. The project is supported by the Swedish Research Council with 75 million Swedish kronor (about 7,5 million euro) over ten years.
The name Bagadilico is an acronym formed using the two initial letters from the words Basal Ganglia Disorders Linnaeus Consortium.
